Lumpiang shanghai is served during meals and sometimes as an appetizer. This dish is a favorite among Filipino kids.

The recipe below can make up to 90 pieces.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kilo ground pork
  • 1/2 kilo shrimp (head and shell removed, meat finely chopped)
  • 2 medium-sized carrots (grated)
  • 1 Knorr pork cube (ground)
  • 1 shallot bulb (minced)
  • 6 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • lumpia wrappers
  • vegetable oil (enough for frying)
Procedure:
  1. In a large bowl, mix all ingredients (except lumpia wrapper and oil). Ingredients should be mixed thoroughly to ensure they are evenly distributed. You can add salt if you desire.
  2. Take a spoonful of the mixture and place in the center of the lumpia wrapper.
  3. Fold the wrapper in half, then fold on the sides. Roll upwards.
  4. To seal the wrapper, beat an egg in a small bowl. This will serve as a glue to seal the wrapper.
  5. Fry the lumpia rolls in a pan.
  6. Serve.
